U.S.-flagged vehicle carrier transits Strait of Hormuz: Danish media

OSLO, May 5 (Xinhua) -- A Maersk-operated U.S.-flagged vehicle carrier has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz, the Danish broadcaster DR reported Tuesday, citing a statement from the Danish shipping giant Maersk.

In the statement, Maersk said the vessel, named Alliance Fairfax, passed through the strait on Monday.

"The transit was completed without incident, and all crew members are safe and unharmed," Maersk said.

The company said the vessel was in the Persian Gulf when hostilities between the United States and Iran broke out earlier this year and had been unable to leave the area due to "continued security concerns."

Alliance Fairfax is operated by Farrell Lines, Inc., a subsidiary of Maersk Line, Limited, a U.S.-based shipping company under Maersk.
